Attendance
Parents are responsible for ensuring that their children attend school promptly and regularly. Attendance is checked and recorded each period throughout the school day. Where there is reason to suggest that a young person does not have a genuine reason for absence Year Team staff will contact parents. If non-attendance is persistent, parents may be asked to attend a formal meeting in school. Extreme cases of poor attendance may be referred to the Reporter of the Children's Panel.
Absence
Explanations are required to cover all absences. If a young person is absent parents should contact the school by telephone, email or text.A Groupcall text message is sent out to parents/carers if a young person does not register Periods One or Five in the school day with no explanation.
The school’s Attendance Group continue to support the “What’s you number?” campaign to impact positively on pupil non-attendance.
This campaign was launched during Session 2018-19 to highlight the importance of attendance and the impact it has on attainment for every pupil.
Every pupil will receive information about their individual attendance record on a regular basis, so that they can see their ‘number’.
